The SwitchVB Junior Summer Series, which featured nearly 70 teams per event last season, continues gaining the acclaim of kids, parents and coaches as it opens this year.

Prizes are awarded to all first and second place finishers with every contestant going home with a free t-shirt.

• Boy's & Girl's 12u, 14u, 16u & 18u - $40 entry fee

Main events are Saturday only; Sunday will be a make up day for weather cancellations--pending park availability. Same-day registration is available for an additional $15; space permitting.

All players must be AVPNext members to participate.

All entrants become members of AVPNext, the grassroots division of the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, making them a part of the fastest growing outdoor volleyball organization in the country. 

Chris Powers, who helps direct the series and coaches high school volleyball, said, "In my experience as a coach and player, I've found that some coaches are very excited about their athletes playing doubles. I would encourage any coaches that have never played competitive doubles to talk with coaches who have. The experience is very valuable. Players get many touches on the ball and improve their skill and awareness. These tournaments offer a fun environment and teach the athletes that doubles volleyball is definitely fun and challenging and something they can enjoy long after they finish their last high school or college match."

"The SwitchVB Junior Summer Series schedule includes tournaments at Arapahoe County Community Park and Aurora Sports Park. The entry fee is $40 per team, per tournament with a one-time fee of $10 for AVPNext membership.
